Love is an experimental film. It wasn’t scripted, it was a spontaneous moment. Edited in the same sequence of events as they unfolded. I kept things this way as you can sense our shame and inhibitions shifting the cameras gaze from judge, to observer - and our gaze from the camera, to one another. I found that incredibly interesting, and it opened a lot of thought on how shame can physicalise unconsciously in how we behave towards one another. A disconnect from the person we are interacting with, from fear of performing correctly.

BLOOD IS BEAUTIFUL
After making my short film "PERIOD" I’ve been reflecting on my own journey and transformation from exploring this narrative. I’ve gone from fear of speaking about menstrual cycles, to celebrating them - but I still feel some anxiety and shame when talking about my own body. I felt I needed to push myself one step further, and make some pieces using my own space, my own blood - and so here they are; 3 small moments captured from this months cycle. I know everyone will react in their own way to these, and I hope that you are able to question your reaction, think about what our cultures do to inform how we see ourselves and the world, and think about how that makes you feel. When I started to question my own shame, I began to remove layers of other peoples ideas and discover an instinct to celebrate something that builds a resilience to pain, teaches us to be prepared, shows us the health of our bodies, and allows us to create life. Blood Is Beautiful.
